staff introduction——LI Renhuo

Li Renhuo is a Research Fellow in Wuhan East-Lake Institute for Social Advancement (EISA).

Li Renhuo is a Research Fellow in Wuhan East-Lake Institute for Social Advancement (EISA). His main research interests are in the field of human rights and death penalty, criminal law, and public interest law. Renhuo also serves as a lawyer in Beijing Huatian Law Firm, mainly offering legal service for the vulnerable groups in criminal cases. 

Renhuo got the degree of Master of Law at the Law School of Wuhan University. His thesis focused on the governance of transnational crimes from the perspective of human rights law. In particular, he emphasized the state responsibility in the prevent and control of transnational crimes in the light of International Human Rights Law. In Wuhan University, Renhuo also studied the protection and promotion of human rights of persons with disabilities. And he conducted research on the program of Amendment to Regulation on the Employment of the Disabled, and completed reports about the employment policies of persons with disabilities at home and aboard.

Renhuo got the certificate of the Johns Hopkins University- Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies for the academic year 2020-2021. In the center, Renhuo completed several research papers in the field of International Humanitarian Law and International Environment Law.

 

In addition to academic research, Renhuo has a great deal of practice experience in government sector and non-government sectors as well. For example, he provided Pro Bono legal service and conducted research on the living situation of construction workers in Beijing in Beijing Yilian Legal Aid and Research Center of Labor. Moreover, Renhuo also worked as an intern in Police Station, Procuratorate, Court of China, and assisted the police, the procurator and the judge to handle criminal cases and settle the civil disputes. In this regard, Renhuo has a wealth of knowledge on how Chinese judicial system works to hold perpetrators of human rights violations accountable by criminal and civil procedure.
